TALL PINES IS HERE

Updated: Dec 20, 2021

Less than 24hrs remain until the 22 OPRC teams tackle recce in preparation for Saturday's event.

Overall Driver & Co-Driver Championship leaders Jerome Mailloux and Phillippe Poirier start first on the road on Saturday, ahead of Alexandre Moreau & Ian Guite, currently both in 2nd place in the Championships. Only 9 points separate the top two and with 22 points available for EACH event, it's still all to play for.

Sitting in 3rd place overall is leading Novice driver Vincent Trudel, with Christopher Trudel sitting alongside. After a 3rd place at the RSQ Rallye de Charlevoix (5th CRC) last month, the pair will be looking to keep that momentum to close the 10 point gap to 2nd place.

In our 2WD Championship, drivers Jim Stevens & Patrick Cyr currently share the top spot after 2 events. As Cyr is not entered in either the Small Pines or the Pine Cone Rally, Jim will jump to the top step the second the car is driven off the start ramp. Hot on Jim's heels though are Gary Sutherland and Sean McConnachie, both of whom are sitting very close behind in 3rd and 4th. Jim's navigator Brandon Pace will also move into the 2WD Co-Driver championship lead once en route to the first stage. He will be aiming to keep the team on track to hold that spot late into the night.

With 22 teams - a number of which haven't competed in the previous 2 OPRC events this season - and a maximum 44 points available this weekend, we could see a COMPLETE shake-up of the Championship tables.

Looks like its shaping up to be one heck of a day!
